CCBS West Coast Conference 2013
Presented by:
Dr. Kent Johnson, Dr. Janet Twyman, Lorri Unumb, and Vicci Tucci
Course Hours: 8
The Cambridge Center for Behavioral Studies (CCBS) and Tucci Learning Solutions is proud to make available the online version of the CCBS West Conference 2013. The title of the conference is: ABA for Children with Disabilities: Generative Instruction.

This form of instruction is a fairly new set of ABA practices that can enhance children or adults' abilities to perform successfully in their day-to-day circumstances. Experienced ABA practitioners will focus on illustrating these practices as well as suggestions for how to collect evidence on the effects of these ABA practices in home and community environments.

In addition, parent-advocate Lorri Shealy-Unumb, JD, will discuss the work she and others have performed to bring about insurance coverage for California children with autism. And of course, Rob Holdsambeck, the person who brought the CCBS Conference to the West Coast and is currently the Executive Director of CCBS, will offer introductory remarks. There will be 8 CEUs offered by CCBS for BCBAs and BCaBAs. Also, CCBS can offer APA 6.5 (Includes California Clinical Psychologists, LCSWs, MFTs and School Psychologists) and CA SLP (5.75). Tucci Learning Solutions will offer 8 CEUs for Certified CLM Coaches.

Worksheets for Designing Contingencies
(pdf version)
Presented by:
Vicci Tucci, M.A., BCBA
The design and implementation of effective contingencies to solve problems of social importance is the sine qua non of behavior analysis. This manual compiles many of the contingencies known to reflect 'evidenced-based practices' for achieving ethical change in undesirable behavior. For service providers, educators, and parents already familiar with the principles and operations of behavior analysis the worksheets contained within this binder will serve as a convenient means of standardizing your communication and documentation of procedures.

For those less familiar with Applied Behavior Analysis the booklet will provide an overview of the critical concepts, principles and operations that the ethical utilization of each of the contingencies contained herein. Of particular note is the one page "cheatsheat" that guides the provider through a set of key questions that help localize which contingencies to utilize for which purpose. In addition, each contingency description is designed so that that pages can be copied and completed for an individual learner or client. This is important because it allows for both the individualization of a program and ensures that ethical safeguards are being followed in the delivery of that program. Above all else, it is hoped that this booklet will assist the service provider in selecting and delivering the right contingency(ies), for the right reason, and in the right way for each and every consumer of ABA, DI and PT services.

Also, a complete cloud-based, "Contingency Managment System" is application for selecting and designing contingencies for your learners can be purchased for a yearly fee. Maintain and update separate contingency worksheets for each learner over time as they progress.

As well, an iBook version, "Selecting and Designing Contingencies" can be purchased on this e-Learning Library.

Mommy...Move the Sun
Presented by:
Jeanie Gould
This memoir is about a family’s journey from the dark side of despair...to the bright side of the sun. Mommy...Move The Sun is about overcoming struggles that range from terrifying to humorous, as they raised their severely disabled daughter, while learning many life lessons along the way. This was written with tears, laughter, and true stubborn grit. This unique and compelling story can offer hope for other families experiencing the challenges of raising a disabled child. “The most noble thing you can hope for is that your unborn child dies, and the sooner the better! Pretend you are not pregnant...drink if you want.. smoke if you want, and quit taking prenatal vitamins,” the Dr. said. “Dis-associate yourself with the fetus inside of you. She won’t make it” The doctors were right about one thing. Nikki does have Tuberous Sclerosis, a rare disease. However, she has so much more! Now at 28 years old, she is our life teacher. She has taught us not to let anyone take hope away, and to never to give up. The author, mother Jeanine Gould, seeks to provide her severely disabled daughter Nikki, whose name means “God’s angel”, with the individualized care that she needs to lead a safe and happy life. Nourished by her family’s love and support, Nikki survives well beyond doctors’ dismal expectations, but as she grows up her family faces many challenges... from her changing needs to a sometimes callous and disrespectful medical system, a broken insurance system, to a very limited educational system. At times, Jeanine marvels at her daughter’s profound uniqueness, her humor, and uncomplicated love, and at times it seems that raising her will always be a series of dramatic battles for survival. Through trials and triumphs, Jeanie achieves many of her goals for Nikki through vigilant involvement in her life and through creative problem solving. Thus, the family motto... “We don’t do normal!”

Functional Activities for CLM Repertoires
Cards to Teach CLM Repertoires in the Natural Environment
Presented by:
Ilene Allinger Candreva, BCBA
A deck of 100 cards to teach CLM repertoires through daily activities. One side contains a materials list and step-by-step directions for the activity; the flip side provides guidance on customizing the activity to the learner's current CLM level.

There are three main ways to use these cards. Choose whichever one works best for you, the learner and the particular situation.

Choose the activity first: Flip through the deck and pull out a few preferred activities. Your learner should then be motivated to join the activity and you can sneak in the learning opportunities. This method is GREAT with reluctant learners!

Choose the repertoire first: Select cards based on the target repertoire - look at the blocks on the left side of each card for guidance. Use the How To Include Repertoires side to help you customize the activity to the learner's current format. This method is ideal for learners struggling with a given repertoire!

Choose the area of learning first: Decide on a life-skill area for the session's focus. Use the colors at the top of the card to guide your choices. This approach works great with non-CLM goals or parent preferences.
